Brief update – I join the ranks of fatherhood!

Just a quick one for those interested – my wife gave birth Monday morning AEST to twins girls: Caitlin Yvette and Emma Sophie. Our daughters are currently in the special care unit due to Agnes being on insulin at the end of her pregnancy and our daughters weighed less than expected (5lbs and 4lbs 3oz respectively).

Unsure when Agnes or the girls will come home, the next milestone will be when Caitlin and Emma join Agnes in her room. I will be spending most of my time at the hospital and there is no internet access there. I am currently home making sure all is well and running a few errands.

Dealing with pregnancy

I can hear the screams of the women already – “what does HE know about being pregnant! His wife is pregnant, not him. So what is he whinging about?” Yes all of that is true, but I am still the man beside the woman who is pregnant, and not just any old pregnancy, but pregnant with twins. One of my aims of this blog was to write down thoughts and that of how I felt about the pregnancy and the time is near come when Agnes will soon give birth and I haven’t said much (if at all) about what I think. So hear I go! *deep sigh*

The last long weekend before Christmas

We had a nice long weekend, the last one before Christmas. While I will be having a month off soon, it is always nice to have time off. Saturday was spent at a gamestore attending the D&D Gameday and playing a 4e module; Sunday and Monday were spent helping dad do odd jobs around the house. A more detailed look below.

Public transport

My first week at home since the weeks of travel and as Agnes is home and might need the car, I started to investigate the option of public transport. I had briefly looked a couple of times beforehand, but didn’t look too deeply. Well that had to change – after the twins are born Agnes will always need the car due to the baby seats. So do the public transport thing now and hopefully get used to it when I need it more long-term.

It sucks! Only two days out of the four I took public transport went well. The first day with all buses, and the first day with a train. I am really not looking forward to taking public transport all the time due to its unrealableness (is that such a word?).
