Flight Travel tips & tricks

Here I am sitting at the airport and I was earlier ticked off at the way some people “assume” they are all important and it doesn’t matter if they hold everyone else up. Here are a few things to help you be ready and non-rushed when you need to catch a flight.

  • If you have your flight details in a calendar of some type, include how long you need for check in before the flight, and then the travel time before that.
  • Wear clothes and jewelry you know will not set off the metal detector. I used to take off my watch and chain, but don’t now as I know they do not set off the detector.
NOTE – Colorado shoes (mens and womens) are known to have a metal strip in the sole of the foot that will set off the metal detector.
  • BEFORE you wait in line for the metal detector, take out your laptop and other paraphenalia that you need to bag to go through the detector.
DO NOT wait and line and start taking out your things, holding up everyone else (as what happened to me by three people)
  • When boarding your flight, don’t have a backpack or bag slung over your shoulder. How would you feel if you were hit in the head with someone’s bag?
  • If you are sitting in the aisle seat and the other seats beside you are not yet filled, don’t do your seatbelt up, wait for the other people to seat themselves before you belt up.
  • I find it comfortable to take out my wallet and other stuff from my pockets before I sit down. I put them into my bag before moving to the gate so that I can have a more comfortable flight.
  • If you are going to read on the flight, have it in your hand as your board the plane – that way you are not holding up people removing things from your bag as you are seating yourself.

These are but a few things I have noted that make the flight depature easier for all and for myself. If you have any other suggestions let us know in the comments.

  1. When you are flying, assume the people in the plane with you are the same idiots who annoy you in traffic. That way you can practise your ‘patience skills’ in different environments *grins*

Common sense isn’t something they know all that much about, and why let it upset you. *giggles*
